you can't be a papa

 Dear Cate,

Today you mixed puzzles together, ripped up puzzle pieces, and did puzzles.  We compared our owies, and yours was bigger.  You learned teeth are for chewing food, not for biting mom.

Favorite words:  Mine.  No.

Olivia's favorite question:  "What do you want to be when you grow up, Cate?"
Cate's answer:  "Papa."
Olivia tells you that you can't be papa.
Cate's new answer:  "Nana."

Celebrating Marti Gras, a.k.a. Fat Tuesday, at the library.
We continued the "Fat" theme by going to McDonalds.

Pedicures with dad

We were the only ones dressed up at the library for Halloween.  Seems there should have been some sort of mom-of-the-year award for this?

Potty training.
Cute, but unsuccessful.

You came on the plane with me to Colorado to say goodbye to Great Grandma Patty.  What a good little traveler you were, and you got to see cousins Ava and Hudson.
Olivia does not know about this, so don't tell her;)

Great Grandma Junice

Before each meal, you remind us to pray for papa. And nana's foot.

At Christmas, you didn't have many expectations. It was like a normal day to you...
until Olivia woke up and showed you how to "do" Christmas.

You shared a fun b-day party with your cousin Landon...

You look like you're either looking for a horse to ride, or your diaper is full.
Probably both.

favorite things

Dear Cate,

Today I'm going to write to you about your favorite things.

1. Olivia
Olivia's first day of school

You would rather read a book than watch tv...unless Olivia is watching tv

Adventureland...can you believe we live only a mile away?!  Every kid's dream:)

2.  Smiling (when you feel like it)

3.  Keton's head

You got so sleepy at the fair, you started rubbing your cheek on Keton's head.

4.  Grandmas and Grandpas/ Papa and Nana

Chilling with Great Grandpa Harm.  You passed on the coffee.

Piling leaves on Papa  (this was following your HUGE temper tantrum that we ignored.)

5.  Hand sanitizer

These are a few of your favorite things.
Love,
mom

Uhh?

Dear Cate,

Today you sang "let it go" while raising your arms.  You do that each day.
You also say "Uhh?"  Uhh means binky, let it go, and food.

You like everybody's toothbrush better than your own.

Olivia loves to trip you, but does not want you to break a bone.
Olivia wants to be a doctor someday so she can give you shots.

You pat our backs when you want yours patted.

things you love:  books, Olivia's things, climbing, smiling.

Love, mom

1!

Dear Catey woo woo, (Olivia's nickname for you)
You're 1!

If you don't know already, mommy and daddy went to Disney World and Port Canaveral without you.  I know you're thinking that sounds cruel and unusual, but we did that with good intentions...we scoped it out so we could plan our family vacation here someday.  Someday you will actually THANK us for going on this planning-for-the-future-vacation.  I did not include any photos with princesses, so you wouldn't feel bad:(

When we got back, it was 3 degrees outside.  We came back to Christmas with the family.
HoHoHo Nana:)

Great grandpa Hal won the gold medal in senior Olympics basketball this year.
You went right to him:)

Uncle Brian, cousin Ava, puppy, and you

Now that you're almost 15 months old, you are (cautiously) walking.
Love my snotty-nosed, snuggly, smiley, and blue-eyed cautious baby.
Love,
Mommy

crazy-haired ballerina bunny chicken

Sweet Cate,
You have added lots of smiles to our home in the year that you have been with us.

Hobbies include:
Clapping and bopping your head
Air piano
Ball
Chasing Olivia
Escaping from Olivia after she pins you
Climbing up stairs but angry going down

Crazy hair day

This year you sort of got 3 halloween costumes...

1.  Excited ballerina

2.  Happy-but-getting-tired-bunny

3.  Chicken that looks like it laid too many eggs

More to blog sometime, but now it's time for me to clean up the bottles, nipples and lion statue you left on the kitchen floor.
Love,
mom
